TOM FORD ERA

Tom Ford was appointed creative director in 1994 following a period of financial and creative instability at the house. Ford introduced a sharply defined aesthetic characterised by streamlined silhouettes, high-gloss finishes and references to 1970s glamour. Under Ford’s direction, Gucci underwent a rapid transformation into a global fashion powerhouse. Accessories and leather goods played a central role in this revival, with updated interpretations of archival codes—such as the horsebit and bamboo—reframed within a modern, provocative context. The period also established a close alignment between creative direction and brand image, with campaigns and collections operating as a unified visual strategy. Ford remained at Gucci until 2004.

HOUSE OF GUCCI

Gucci was founded in Florence in 1921 by Guccio Gucci as a family-run leather goods business. The brand expanded internationally under the leadership of Guccio’s sons, but internal family conflicts eventually led to the loss of family control by the late 20th century. Gucci’s modern history has been strongly influenced by successive creative directors, notably Tom Ford, who redefined the house in the 1990s, followed by Frida Giannini, Alessandro Michele, Sabato De Sarno and recently Demna Gvasalia.

We clean, refresh, repair and apply leather conditioner to the majority of our items, so that they enter their new life as beautiful as possible.
